You sure can! Contact us here with your size requirements and questions to get started.

How are pilings measured?

We measure the diameter of the piling.  For square, you can simply pull the measuring tape across the face of the piling.  For round pilings you ideally look from the top and pull a measuring tape across the entire diameter.  If you cannot access the top, then pull the tape across the face and look where the ends of the piling cross the tape.

How large should my dock opening be where the pile guide attaches?

If your pile guide uses wheel rollers, your opening should be 3-4" larger than your piling size.  If your pile guide uses rub blocks, your opening should be 4-5" larger than your piling size.

What size bolts should I use to attach my pile guide?

We recommend at least a 5" long lag bolt for attaching into the dock.  1/2" thickness is also preferred, although the holes will accommodate up to a 5/8" thick bolt.

Dock & Pier Services

What are the choices I have when it comes to decking?

We have 5 main materials that we use for decking and those are: treated Douglas Fir, Azek PVC, TREX composite, IPE Brazilian hardwood, and the fiberglass decking.

What makes a dock sturdy and firm?

A rigid frame with torsional resistance and more than adequate flotation will keep your dock sturdy. We use super floats by Hendren to keep flotation consistent.

How are the pilings installed?

There are two methods: 1.) Wet drive which uses water to jet a hole in the bottom, and the other 2.) is Dry drive, where we hammer the pilings into the ground which is usually a steel pipe piling.

How big of boat can I fit in my dock?

Every city has different rules on whether your boat can extend passed your slip. But, Newport Beach will allow you to have your boat past your dock. Huntington and Long Beach allow 10% of the boat length to extend into the channel. Therefore, every condition varies. Contact us at info@swiftslipdocks.com for your specific situation.

What’s the deal on permits?

The procedure to pull a dock permit is a long, difficult process which varies from city to city.  We provide the service for you at an extra cost.  However, with over 30 years of experience, we are going to help you get the dock that you wish for.  We have worked with the cities for years and know how to pull a permit in the most time efficient and effective way.  However, we cannot promise a certain time limit.  Permits can take from 2 weeks up to 18 months to pull.
